Things I´ve Noticed about Nicaragua

In Managua, all the streets are lined with trees

There are CPFs or security guards everywhere and carry either a massive night stick or gun

Ladies’ Night means male stripers

Each house is a different color

Cat calls aren’t as common as the other places I’ve been in Latin America

Rum & coke is the drink of choice here

There are cowboys (with their cows) on my university’s campus

FSLN / Viva Daniel graffiti is everywhere

People are incredibly nice and very helpful-waiters draw maps to explain how to get from one place to another

Personal space is a non issue on buses

People (occasionally) will stop and let you cross the road even on an 8 lane highways

Your average meal contains three things: gallo pinto (rice & beans), chicken, and some form of plantain

Dual currency-you can pay for anything in dollars or cordabas

A few vocabulary notes:

Refresco means a natural/homemade juice not soda

Soda is gaseosa

Vos is used instead of tú for you (this means that the conjugation changes of course)
